Wizz Air Chooses Navtech Charts
Wizz Air, the largest low-fare/low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has renewed its contract with Navtech for its popular Charts products. Through this agreement, Wizz Air will continue its commitment to be a value-oriented airline focusing on innovation. The airline aims to make the “Wizz Air experience” outstanding in terms of service and value, and Navtech’s products and service will continue to be a part of that design. Wizz is using Navtech’s eCharts and eCharts Enroute products, embracing technology with a paperless cockpit for their fleet of A320 aircraft. They will also be testing the new Navtech iCharts application for iPad with their Class 1 hardware.
“Wizz Air and Navtech work well together as we share common goals to provide excellent service and innovative offerings,” said Mike Hulley, Navtech CEO. “By recommitting to Navtech and our electronic charts, Wizz Air has shown confidence in our products and service and we are very pleased our relationship will continue.”
Wizz Air’s primary mission is to provide their passengers the best travel experience possible. To make flying more affordable, they offer a “simple service model” which includes ticketless travel, no seating assignments for their single class all-leather seat configuration, and use of cost and time-efficient secondary airports. Navtech’s eCharts suite is also committed to efficiency and creating a positive user experience and it provides critical features to support airline operations. The improved touch screen GUI enhances pilot experience along with the night mode visualization and the ability to crosstalk between connected flight deck units. Airlines can pre-generate flight plans using advanced data entry tools as well as keyword search complete route documentation. The eCharts layer feature, zoom and route highlight tools indicate high terrain and significant details when flipping between charts.
