Navtech Advisory Group Meeting

NAGNavtech hosted an in-person meeting for our Navtech Advisory Group in Prague, Czech Republic September 11-12, 2012.  Seven of ten of this elite group were able to attend, as well as Navtech staff and three industry guests met to discuss a variety of topics with a focus on e-operations.

Airbus, ARINC and Cathay Pacific Airways all had representatives at the meeting and made presentations relevant to their work toward electronic flight operations.  M. Jean-Pierre Gillet, VP Aircraft e-Operation Support & Airbus Customer Services, reviewed the efforts of his company thus far to launch electronic forms of document and application management as well as their "FlySmart with Airbus EFB" program.  He imparted in great detail about their latest EFB package which will launch in 2013.  Dan Pendergast, Senior Director of Airline Programs at ARINC gave a summary of their recent e-enablement initiatives including a case study. A lively discussion of best practices for mobile device management served the group's agenda.  Captain Russell Davie, Flight Operations GM for Cathay Pacific Airways, spoke specifically of Cathay's e-enablement plan which laid the ground work for discussion to an airline at the forefront of EFB technology.

Navtech Executives gave product roadmap updates and on Day 2 and Dr. Steven Hursh of the Institutes for Behavior Resources spoke to their most recent development on Fatigue Risk Management, FRMS.

The Navtech Advisory Group will meet again in-person during 2013 and Navtech will consider inviting new member airlines to further expand the groups' discussion capacity.
